Course Information:
This lecture will serve to provide veterinary technicians and veterinarians with instructions on performing safe and effective regional and local nerve blocks for painful dental procedures. Included in this discussion will be information on which drugs to use, drug doses, equipment needed, tissues blocked, and proper placement of the regional nerve block. Photos will be provided for visual aids.
- Calculate drug doses for dental nerve blocks.
- Identify landmarks to perform dental nerve blocks.
- Know what tissues are blocked by a specific dental nerve block.
RACE Accreditation: This program has been RACE approved for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for veterinary technicians/technologists in jurisdictions that recognize RACE approval. (20-965876)
Course Agenda:Week 1 (Real Time Session August 29): Dental Nerve Blocks
We will cover the anatomy of the head and mouth, drug selection, and steps of nerve blocks for dental procedures. Complications will also be discussed.
