Practice Sessions: In order to prepare you for a successful experience

Level and Prerequisites:
This
intermediate course is focused toward veterinary technicians that work feline patients in small animal internal medicine. Participants should have a thorough knowledge of feline anatomy and physiology.
VSPN CE Course: Open to veterinary technicians/technologists.
This course has been RACE approved for veterinary technicians/technologists.(22-29341)
Course Description:
This course will follow 2 feline internal medicine cases. It will start with case presentation, proceed through diagnostics and treatment and end with nursing considerations for improved patient care in the clinic and at home.
Week 1 (Real Time Session June 22):

Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- Understand the importance of obtaining a patient�s history
- Discuss the pathophysiology of this feline internal medicine case
- Anticipate probable diagnostics to be requested by the DVM
Week 2 (Real Time Session June 29):
Kitty Puzzle Time
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- Use information from diagnostic tests to anticipate treatment of patient
- Discuss nursing care of this internal medicine patient
- Explain home care requirements that will be needed
Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required
to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

About the Instructors:
Marisa Rhyne, LVT, VTS (ECC, SAIM) is a LVT in Texas at a specialty practice in North Dallas. She has worked in specialty practice since 2004, as well as general and emergency practice since 1997. She previously taught for 3 years, in the Certified Veterinary Assistant program at Collin County Community College Health Sciences Continuing Education Department and the University of Texas at Arlington Health Careers Institute
Total CE Credit: 3

- Enrollment qualifications: VIN CE courses are open to
VIN member and non-member veterinarians. Veterinarians enrolling in a VSPN CE course
must be a VIN member. Veterinary support staff must be a VSPN member to enroll in a
VSPN CE or a VIN CE course open to VSPN member enrollment.
