Clear Your Browser Cookies

HTTP cookies are parcels of text sent by a server to a Web client (usually a browser) and then sent back unchanged by the client each time it accesses that server. Cookies are used for authenticating, session tracking (state maintenance), and maintaining specific information about users, such as site preferences or the contents of their electronic shopping carts. Clearing your cookies may help improve your computer's speed and performance.

To clear your VIN cookies, follow the steps that apply to your browser:

Internet Explorer
Edge
Firefox
Google Chrome
Safari
iPad/iPhone

Android


Internet Explorer 11
(Note: Starting on June, 15 2022 IE11 will no longer be supported)

  1. On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
  2. On the General tab, in the Browsing history section, click the Delete button.
  3. In the Delete Browsing History box, check the Cookies and website data option.
  4. Make sure the Preserve Favorites website data box in UNCHECKED.
  5. Click the Delete button.
  6. Once it is finished, click OK on Internet Options.

Edge

  1. At the top of the Edge window, click on the Edge menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Cookies and site permissions.
  4. Under the Cookies and data stored section, select Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  5. Select See all cookies and site data.

  6. Under Cookies and data stored for sites you have browsed, Look for vin.com from the list of cookies (Note: you can also use the search bar to type in www.vin.com for quicker results)
  7. Select the Drop down button for vin.com

  8. Select the 'trash can' icon

Note: You can also clear your cookies from the URL bar. To clear your VIN cookies, follow the steps below:

  1. While on www.vin.com Select the Lock icon on the URL bar
  2. Select Cookies
  3. On the Cookies in use window, Select www.vin.com 
  4. Select the Remove

Mozilla Firefox

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select 'Privacy & Security'.
  4. Select Manage Data... under the Cookies and Site Data.
  5. Search for VIN or VSPN. (Note: you can also use the search bar to type in www.vin.com for quicker results)
  6. Select all the cookies in Search result box by Ctrl select.
  7. Select Remove Selected.

Note: You can also clear your cookies from the URL bar. To clear your VIN cookies, follow the steps below:

  1. While on www.vin.com Select the Lock icon on the URL bar
  2. Select Clear Cookies and Site Data...
  3. On the Removing Cookies and Site Data window, Select Remove

Cross-Site Cookie Management

  • Firefox has custom management for cross-site cookies in the 'Privacy & Security' section of the settings. Depending on how you have the settings set (Strict or Custom), if all cookies are set to be blocked then some functionality on VIN might not work correctly.

Google Chrome

  1. Click on the menu icon on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Privacy and security
  4. Select Cookies and other site data.
  5. Select See all cookies and site data.
  6. Under All cookies and site data section, look for vin.com from the list of cookies (Note: you can also use the search bar to type in vin.com for quicker results).
  7. Select the 'trash can' icon next to vin.com

 

Note: You can also clear your cookies from the URL bar. To clear your VIN cookies, follow the steps below

  1. While on www.vin.com Select the Lock icon on the URL bar
  2. Select Cookies
  3. On the Cookies in use window, Select www.vin.com 
  4. Select the Remove

  1. Click on the Safari menu on the top-left of the screen.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Select Privacy.
  4. Select Manage Website Data.
  5. Look for vin.com from the list of cookies (Note: you can the search bar to type in vin.com for quicker results)
  6. Select vin.com
  7. click Remove

iPhone/iPad

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Safari.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Select Website Data.
  5. Under Website Data section, look for vin.com (Note: you can also use the search bar to type in vin.com for quicker results)
  6. Select Edit on the top right of the page
  7. Select the red '-' icon next to vin.com
  8. Select Delete next to vin.com

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Go to www.vin.com
  3. To the right of the address bar select the 'menu' button
  4. Select the info icon
  5. Select Cookies
  6. Next to 'Cookies in use' select the 'trash can' button
  7. On the 'Clear Cookies?' pop up window, select 'Clear'
