The study dealt with 100 dogs which underwent a reconstructive surgery of the anterior cruciate ligament by a modified "over the top" intra-articular method. Fifty dogs received carprofen after surgery at 4mg/kg per day and per os during one month. A control group contained 50 dogs which had not received any anti-inflammatory treatment. Results of the postoperative evolution were studied in these two groups at D30, D90 and D180 with a quotation table filled by the veterinary surgeon and by the animal's owner. The results obtained showed that carprofen improved functional recovery in quality and speed during the month of treatment and during the two following months.
