The study dealt with the long-term outcome (up to 18 months) with 108 dogs which underwent a reconstructive surgery of anterior cruciate ligament rupture by a modified "over the top" method.

Functional, clinical & radiological criterias were studied with a quotation table filled by the veterinary surgeon and by the animal's owner.

The results obtained showed a favourable evolution of functional and clinical criterias and an increase of osteoarthritis lesions. Initial degenerative lesions and meniscal injury are unfavourable factors. Bilateral lesions are frequents with 45% of bilateral rupture and 53% of controlateral lesions of osteoarthritis
