COURSE DESCRIPTION
The What Makes Cats Tick? Feline Internal Medicine series will take a close look at a variety of feline-specific topics taught by our knowledgeable instructors. This series is open to all veterinarians with an interest in feline medicine. We are planning on five modules to be taught throughout 2007. Here are the course topics which will be covered throughout the entire series: Physiology, GI, Nutrition, Endocrine, Urinary, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Dermatology, Behavior, Therapeutics, Analgesia, Anesthesia and Dental Dilemmas.

The first module will cover Physiology, GI and Nutrition topics in feline medicine.

Course Outline:

Week 1 (1/10):
Physiology, facts and fun: setting the stage of the cat as an obligate carnivore who can live alone or in a society. (Scherk)

Week 2 (1/17):
Gastrointestinal section, part 1: IBD and pancreatitis (Scherk)

Week 3 (1/24):
Gastrointestinal section, part 2: Feline liver diseases (Scherk)

Week 4 (1/31):
Nutrition, part 1: Obesity (Kirk)

Week 5 (2/7):
Nutrition, part 2: Inappetance, anorexia and cachexia (Kirk)

MESSAGE BOARD DISCUSSIONS:
Discussions will begin on the start date of the course and will continue for 7 days following the last real time session.

CE HOURS: 10 CE Credits

Member/$185, Non-Member/$273 after December 27, 2006

COURSE WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY: Withdrawal prior to the listed start date of a course entitles the registrant to a complete refund or a credit toward a future VIN CE course, whichever is preferred. Withdrawal within 1 week after the listed start date (i.e. including no more than one real-time session) entitles the registrant to a credit toward any future VIN CE course. (Does not apply to courses with only one real-time session.) After the first real-time session, a registrant may withdraw due to special circumstances and receive prorated credit towards a future VIN course. These requests will be handled on an individual basis. The amount of the prorated credit will be determined based on 65% of the time remaining in the course at the time of withdrawal. It is not possible to withdraw retroactively.
