Practice Sessions: In order to prepare you for a successful experience

Level and Prerequisites:
This
basic course is open to veterinarians with an interest in common
skin problems and allergic dermatitis in cats and new information in veterinary dermatology.
Participants should have a basic understanding of cutaneous anatomy, physiology and immunology
and have access to basic dermatology textbooks.

Course Information:
This course provides information for practicing small animal veterinarians about many
aspects of common skin problems and review of new and interesting cases. Each lecture
will present up to date information about pathophysiology of the disease process,
diagnostic tests and options as well as treatments. Each hour will be given in a
lecture format with participant polling and weekly discussion boards.
Friendly group interaction is encouraged.
Week 1 (Real Time Session December 6, 2017):
VIN SKIN and Cool Cats (Feline Dermatology)
Presenter: Mitchell D. Song
Format: Audio
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- Discuss new and interesting cases which have been presented on VIN dermatology boards
- Identify common skin problems in cats.
- Discuss treatments for allergic dermatitis in cats and guidelines
for dermatophytosis diagnosis and treatment.
Week 2 (Real Time Session December 13, 2017):
VIN SKIN 2.0 and 2017 Dermatology Update
Presenter: Mitchell D. Song
Format: Audio
Objectives: Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to
- Discuss strange and interesting cases seen at a referral dermatology clinic.
- Discuss new information in veterinary dermatology including but not limited to:
- Guidelines for the treatment of methicillin resistant infections.
- Information on the use of Cytopoint (lokivetmab) and Apoquel (oclacitinib).
Successful completion (scoring 80% or better) on the end-of-course test is required
to earn a certificate of completion for the course.

in the course library prior to each Real Time Session.

About the Presenter:
VIN Consultant and ACVD boarded dermatologist
Mitchell D. Song received his veterinary degree
from Mississippi State University and completed a residency in dermatology at the University
of California, Davis. He is currently the owner of Animal Dermatology, PC in Scottsdale
and Phoenix, Arizona USA.
