Course Description

Week 1 (Holmstrom) Dental anatomy, terminology, the dental operatory.
A review of common dental anatomy and terms so that all will be on the same level for the discussions of the following weeks. The second portion of the evening will cover dental equipment and instrumentation.

Week 2 (Holmstrom) Survey of Veterinary Dental Disease
This week will be an overview of all of the areas of dental disease - pediodontics, periodontics, endodontics, oral medical cases, and oral neoplasia.

Week 3 (Gengler) - Veterinary Dental Radiology
Intraoral imaging will be discussed as a diagnostic aid, therapeutic monitor and financial tool for the small animal practice. The equipment, proper exposure, positioning to produce diagnostic films and film evaluation will be included in this busy week.

Week 4 (Gengler) Basic Endodontics
The equipment and theory for treatment of the pulp canal will make up this week's topic. Pulp capping and conventional root canal therapy will be taught.

Week 5 (Holmstrom) Periodontics - The Prophy
A good prophylaxis is fundamental to good veterinary dentistry. This week we will discuss the equipment and procedures necessary to perform the complete prophy.

Week 6 (Gengler) Periodontics - Therapy and Surgery
Periodontal disease is the most common disease seen in small animal practice. This week you will learn how to be more effective in treating this common condition by surgical exposure and the use of new therapeutics.

At the end of this course, participants will have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of veterinary dentistry.

Discussions will begin on the start date of the course and will continue for 7 days following the last real time session.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY: Withdrawal prior to the listed start date of a course entitles the registrant to a complete refund or a credit toward a future VIN CE course, whichever is preferred. Withdrawal within 1 week after the listed start date (i.e. including no more than one real-time session) entitles the registrant to a credit toward any future VIN CE course. (Does not apply to courses with only one real-time session.) After the first real-time session, a registrant may withdraw due to special circumstances and receive prorated credit towards a future VIN course. These requests will be handled on an individual basis. The amount of the prorated credit will be determined based on 65% of the time remaining in the course at the time of withdrawal. It is not possible to withdraw retroactively.
